The label
r.a.r.e, a pan European record label specialising in new recordings and associated catalogue by top name artists, has been launched by Thomas Neelsen, chairman of Repertoire Records, based in Hamburg and London.
The r.a.r.e label made its debut in 2007 with a new studio album by Police guitarist Andy Summers in collaboration with classical guitar player Ben Verdery, entitled 'First You Build A Cloud'. Andy was performing with The Police during their two-year reunion tour, when the CD was released. It was accompanied by two classic Andy Summers solo albums - 'Green Chimneys' and 'Peggy's Blue Skyline', both of which have been remastered and feature extra bonus tracks not previously included on the original releases.
The new label operates from Repertoire's London office and utilises the services of an existing distributor network across Europe. More releases are being planned.
Repertoire was founded 20 years ago in Hamburg by Neelsen and has an extensive catalogue of collectable re-issues spanning four decades of music, with vinyl, CD, merchandise and books.
"A strong pan European independent is the perfect home for those artists, whose music has stood the test of time, as witnessed by their continuing record and concert ticket sales," says Neelsen. "We're small enough to care, but big enough to do the job such artists warrant."
